Best Tips: Packing for Your Beach Vacation
You’ve decided Daytona Beach is the perfect spot for your family beach vacation. We couldn’t agree more! Now all you have to do is pack!
Here are a few tips to consider when packing for your Daytona Beach summer holiday.
A list of planned activities
There’s so much to do in Daytona Beach! From boardwalk to museums, there’s something for everyone. It’s a good idea to sit down with the family before you leave to decide on a few things you don’t want to miss. Don’t make your list too long. Leave room for those spontaneous moments of fun.
Organize your wardrobe for every day. Pack a few items that can be worn more than once. Make sure to pack two bathing suits, one to wear while the other is drying. Prepare for a little rain. Bring a light poncho or a small umbrella. Pack with your activities in mind. Include tennis shoes or hiking sandals if you plan on taking a walking tour or a trail hike.
Definitely have your credit cards, plane tickets, boarding passes, driver’s license, insurance cards and phone on hand. Don’t forget hygienic items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, razor, make up, lotion, etc. Bring along a pack of baby wipes. They make for easy clean-up when you’re on the go.
Of course, you can always check with our concierge or pop into our on-site convenience market for items you forgot to pack.
Pack any prescription medicines you take regularly. Bring enough for the amount of time you’re gone, plus extras in case your itinerary changes.
Also, consider bringing along Band-Aids, ibuprofen and medicines for an upset stomach or other short-term ailments.
Extra Ziploc bags
They’re great for storing your shells and other beach finds. You can also use them to keep opened snacks and food items fresh. They are also good to keep things dry and sand-free.
For the little ones
If you’re traveling with small children, bring a supply of their favorite snacks/drinks. For even smaller children, make sure and bring a Pack and Play for those important afternoon naps.
This is a real lifesaver for beach time. It’s a great way to get rid of that pesky sand. You just sprinkle it on and the sand falls right off. Also, it soaks in moisture, which is helpful if your kids have a tendency to get rashy in humid weather. Corn starch works, too!
Don’t forget to clean out your fridge before you leave. Dispose of any perishables and take the garbage out. This will ensure a clean-smelling kitchen and no added cleaning responsibilities when you return home.
Leave your itinerary information and an extra house key with a friend or neighbor. It’s a good idea to either stop mail delivery or have a friend retrieve it while you’re gone. A full mailbox tells potential thieves there’s an empty house available for them to target.
