6 Ways to Save on Holiday Shopping
The holidays are upon us, and for many that means it’s time to get into gift seeking mode. It’s often easy to accidentally overspend, which can be stressful for you and your bank account. Avoid shopping anxiety with these six tips:
Decide on a Budget
Come up with the overall total of what you can spend on gifts. Once you figure that out, choose what you’ll spend on each gift. Stick to your plan! If you plan to spend $15 on your child’s kindergarten teacher, don’t spend $20!
Make a List
And check it twice — even three or four times if need be! Writing a list (and sticking to it!) keeps you from overspending your Christmas budget. Keep a list of who you’ll buy gifts for and include gift ideas for each person. Refer to it often, and make notes about where you might find it. If the gift is available in various stores, make note of where you can get it for the best price.
Organize yourself even more by categorizing your list by price range. For example, you’ll likely spend less on teacher gifts and office gifts, so separate them from your family members and close friends. You can also start a special gift board on Pinterest to help foster ideas. Don’t worry, you can mark it secret so your friends and family don’t know what you’re getting them!
Some people love the excitement of Black Friday shopping. However, you don’t have to wait until then to start chipping away at your list. And you might not save that much more anyway. According to a 2015 study by Boomerang Commerce, there isn’t a huge difference between one-day promotions like Black Friday and Cyber Monday and regular holiday sales.
During the holiday season, restaurants often offer special discounts on gift card purchases. You can take advantage of great promotions from everything from major chain upscale restaurants to popular casual dining spots.
Hit the Outlet Malls
Outlet malls — like Tanger Outlets in Daytona Beach — are great places to knock out a lot on your Christmas list while making every penny count. Also, if you’re military personnel, a AAA member or AAARP member, you receive additional discounts on your purchases at the Daytona Beach Tanger Outlet from now through Dec. 31, 2107.
Save on a Stay
Consider booking a Daytona Beach getaway for a loved one for Christmas. When you book your vacation at The Plaza Resort and Spa at least 14 days in advance, you’ll get 15% off your stay with us! We also offer discounts for Florida residents, AAA/CAA members and active duty military personnel.
